How to measure diffusion

Principle :    eximer forming

The ratio of excimer and monomer - emission includes the diffusion coefficient

A lipid membrane can be treated as if it is a grid with well defined positions  about 0.8 nm apart. The number of exchange processes between adjacent positions within such a grid to form an excited dimer is proportional to the diffusion of the molecule within the membrane.

D = ¼ . nj . l2

nj = jump frequency

l  = mean jump distance
